This New Cannabis-Infused Chewing Gum Is Helping People With MS

I enjoy chewing gum just for the flavor, but a new type of gum is being tested – cannabis gum.

The gum would be another form of medicinal cannabis that’s especially useful for multiple sclerosis. AXIM Biotechnology, the creator of the gum, expects the FDA and EMA to approve the drug this year.

AXIM Biotechnology says the gum will be unique by allowing equal parts THC and CBD to be quickly absorbed by the mouth.

Dr. George E. Anastassoy, MD, DDS, MBA, and CEO of AXIM says the benefit of MedChewRx is that it “gives precise, controlled release to the oral mucosal capillary circulation,” meaning that the medicine bypasses the liver.

The gum contains 5mg of CBD and 5mg of THC, both having medicinal properties to them. The gum comes with fewer built in side effects as well.

Instead of inhaling and ingesting, chewing it as a gum spares you from the “high” traditionally experienced when consuming cannabis.

Currently, Professor John Zajicek is running trials for the AXIM gum, particularly focusing on the spasticity and pain of Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

He thinks the gum will be seen as more discrete and socially acceptable than smoking or eating it.

AXIM considers the gum useful for more reasons than just being an effective delivery method. The act of chewing provides neurostimulatory and neuroprotective benefits in your mind.

Chewing, as you can imagine, relieves stress and can stimulate your cardiovascular system.

The act of chewing, in conjunction with the medicated gum, actually provides an even greater therapeutic response.

But before you think, “Gosh, I’ll just make my own,” we’ve gotta let you in on something of a bummer:

AXIM owns the patent on medical cannabis chewing gum. They’re also running trials on a CBH topical formula whose patent is pending. This formula would be used for eczema and psoriasis.

Medical Marijuana, Inc actually owns almost half of AXIM and wants to push out even more cannabis products.

It’s not a bad thing to have a company aggressively investigating new delivery methods for cannabis’s healing properties. But it does block out the little guy.
